Logo Development - Concepts

This was the first initial design, before I'd looked at other business logos. I wanted a logo that represented that I was a filmmaker so I went for a camera film background and then on the forefront a clapper board, these elements are ones instantly recognizable to my potential audiences. I put the word 'Freelancer' at the top and made it bold to show that it was my focus for the company.

The second logo I created was this one, I'd looked at the previous one a lot and after seeing other logos I felt as though it didn't look very professional. With this one I decided to be a little bit more creative and experimented, I added the large L which was meant to look quite creative but everyone I showed the image to said it brought too much emphasis to the letter 'L'. I focused on the colors blue and purple as they connotated being trustworthy and also very creative which is two features I want to have.

This was my next idea, I liked this one a lot as it had a more professional look and was more aesthetically pleasing although people that looked at the images said that it didn't necessarily reflect my business well. I needed something that gave a clear representation of what my business was so that clients would be aware of who they're working with. As my main business idea is to do with film that is the type of thing I'd like to follow.

For my fourth logo I decided to take a slightly different approach, this turn I went onto Photoshop and then made my name resemble the silhouette of a clapper board. This design to a lot longer and was a design that I felt restricted the idea of the business. For my next one I'd like to take a more colourful approach whilst still staying professional.

Eventually, after talking to various individuals, one being a freelance illustrator and the other being a graphic designer and took some advice from both when showing examples, I decided that I could have more creative freedom if I created a name for my enterprise that reflected what I wanted the business to do, and that is creating new stories. The main focus was the triangle which was meant to symbolize a play button commonly seen in video players. With the text I tried to make it go outside of the triangle to symbolize that I wasn't sticking to video production as I would enjoy writing and journalism as well. 'The New Stories' would be the enterprise but through that I could do the odd bit of freelance so I've created a logo to fit that as well.

Business Plan - Case Studies

Business Model Evaluation:

A common trend that these plans have is effective budgetary precautions in place, these three are fortunately profitable situations but they still have budgets in place and ways around spending more than they need to, this is something I would like to take into my own business model. Finding ways for my media creation business to gain different grants or synergise in ways to maximise profits. Any profits will be reinvested and put into supporting the students the company brings on board.

They also have a specific objective with their businesses, they don't focus on multiple things, they try to get the wheel spinning on one area and then once that works they add to it. They will try new things if their current idea isn't working properly but they'll often stick to one priority which means they can focus all of their time on that making sure that is developed.

There isn't a need for a lot of staff members within these businesses as they focus on using minimal amounts of people but making sure those people are as skilled as possible, whenever there's a shortage of skills they may temporarily get a staff member that can fill that slot only when necessary.

These specific examples are quite effective models as they have an essence of cyclicality which means that the business is created a way that it cycles it's ideas in a way that it can constantly develop. They focus on an idea, see if it works, make a profit and then focus on another idea and the cycle continues, these three businesses still stay within their original idea whilst also making sure to try something new and different. These businesses aim to constantly evolve and try new ideas. I would like to realistically create a business that does this in effort to keep doing something new whilst still staying true to how it began.
